The book is about a town called Madison where people are granted a wish on their 18th birthday. We follow the main character, Eldon Wikes as he struggles to find what to wish for. Eldon has seen other people wish for things that indirectly made his life worse. He sees the consequences and effects of other people's wish. He's pressured by his mother to wish for money to help their finance situation. He also struggles if he should wish for beauty, skill, etc. He also gets influenced by his friends and peers on what he should wish for. He ends up deciding on what he wants to wish for. He provides to wish for what he wanted but his wish made parts of the town upset. After a few days, he leaves with his family to elsewhere.
I like the concept of having one wish that could change your life for the better or the worse. I also like how they have to keep a secret from outsiders. The best part would have to be the beginning in my opinion. My favorite character was Merrill since I like how he talks and his attitude. I also like the relationship between him and Eldon.
I would recommend this to people who like more emotional and suspenseful stories due to the elements in the story.
