"This book reminds me so much of the show “Dear White People.” Kiki Banjo hosts a campus radio show where she speaks on relationship advice while maintaining a secret casual relationship with a White classmate. After breaking things off with him, she then engages in a pretend relationship to raise the number of listeners in her radio show. Her pretend relationship forces her to explore her definitions and expectations of friendships and relationships in general. This was a great read with a large focus on Afro-Caribbean culture and real life issues encountered by young Black students." - L. Ngo
