Online Community Service
Online community service opportunities are for district residents of the Half Hollow Hills Library currently in grades 6 through 12. Unless otherwise stated, submissions should be e-mailed to the Teen Service Department at teenservices@hhhlibrary.org.
Please Note: Submissions may be used on our social media channels.
Please allow up to ONE week for a response via email containing your community service certificate. If more than one week has passed, make sure to check your Spam folder for emails from the Teen Service Department.
Teen Book Reviewers
Become a Teen Book Reviewer! Visit https://www.hhhlibrary.org/form/teenbookreviewers to fill out our Teen Book Reviewer Request form. See completed reviews at https://www.hhhlibrary.org/teen-reviews.
Please allow up to 3 days for a response with instructions and guidelines for your review. Once accepted and we receive your submission, please allow up to 1 week for your community service certificate.
Reviewers will receive two (2) hours of community service credit for each submitted review and may submit up to three (3) book reviews per year.
Database Reviews
Teens grades 6-12 are invited to review library databases for volunteer hours!
Fill out the following form to let us know you are interested: https://www.hhhlibrary.org/form/teendatabasereviewers. You can also visit hhhlibrary.org/resources to see a list of the library's available databases. If you have a preference as to which database you would like to review, make sure to include it in your interest form; otherwise, we will chose a database for you. Please allow up to 3 days for us to respond to your interest form and, if accepted, we will send you back a Database Review Form to fill out with your review.

Library of Congress: By the People Virtual Transcription
Help transcribe or review historical documents for the Library of Congress. Visit https://crowd.loc.gov/get-started/ to learn how to become a virtual volunteer and to search for projects to transcribe or review. Once you complete a project, take a screenshot of your work and e-mail it to teenservices@hhhlibrary.org to receive one hour of community service.
Transcribers will receive one (1) hour of community service credit for each submitted transcription and may submit up to three (3) transcriptions per year.
Online Book of the Month Club
Join our Online Book of the Month Club and receive community service! Reserve a physical copy of this month’s title through the library or download an e-book using Libby (please contact the Teen Desk if you need help; we have a limited number of copies available to check out). When finished, visit our website to answer discussion questions for the month’s titles (questions will be posted starting Monday, September 16th).
Once we receive your response, you’ll receive a digital certificate for 2 hours of community service.
