Susan Illions-Lee
2024
My passion is painting close-ups of nature, wildlife, flowers, waterfalls and water lilies with a lot of reflections. I love to paint landscapes of my travels to Paris and other European cities, Caribbean and U.S. locations. I get inspired by looking through a window, doorway, cave or bridge and creating artwork with these themes.

Artist Biography
I have been painting for most of my life, first in oils and then in acrylics. As a professional accountant for my career, I was also taking many private lessons with professional art teachers in Baltimore and Long Island. I have been inspired and influenced by my favorite impressionist artist Claude Monet, my father, Leonard Illions, a technical illustrator trained at Pratt institute and my distant relative, Marcus C. Illions, one of the most famous carvers of wooden carousel horses in Coney Island, New York City, early 1900s. I have also raised two children in Dix Hills, Long Island, New York with my husband.
